Christopher Nolan couldn’t be farther from Gotham. He began shooting his sci-fi thriller, Inception, in London last month. And now, he is shooting in Paris, on the Pont de Bir-Hakeim.
Several online sources in the city reported the sight of giant rotating mirrors reflecting a scene being shot of an argument between co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page. The film, set to be released in 2010, also stars Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a cast of familiar faces from the Batman films such as Michael Caine and Cillian Murphy. A teaser trailer is due to be released Friday (Aug. 21).
Along with its European locales, trade materials cryptically describe Inception as a contemporary, sci-fi
action thriller set in the “architecture of the mind.” The film’s real and metaphysical
locales are a respite from Gotham (a.k.a. real-life Chicago). But never fear, Nolan
will return to the Batman franchise in 2011 to direct the as-yet-untitled
follow-up to Dark Knight.
