Twitter: The Opera is a Real Thing That's Actually Happening

OK, a real Twitter opera will probably look nothing like that, but that doesn't mean the Royal Opera House of London (pictured above) isn't doing it anyway. Yes, that's right, they're creating an opera composed entirely of storyline suggestions sent to their Twitter account. More than 350 people have contributed so far.

Once the submission process is complete, directors and composers will add staging and music to the stories, performers will be chosen, and the series of mini-operas will be performed for a festival in September. 

Interested parties can tweet their story suggestions to @youropera. As of this moment, they're already at the end of Act I Scene 1. The hero has been kidnapped by a flock of birds and is locked in a tower, awaiting rescue. There is also a talking cat.

Where's it gonna go from here? Well, that's up to you.
