Willie Nelson and Band of Horses Head to Hawaii for MySpace Secret Show Tomorrow

August 24, 2009  |  12:42pm
There's something a bit off-putting about connecting with a 77-year-old man on MySpace. But the unease is lessened knowing said older gent is Willie Nelson. And tomorrow, your online Nelson connection will pay off: Willie will perform a "secret" MySpace show live from Maui with Band of Horses.

To promote Nelson's latest album, a record of jazz standards called American Classic out tomorrow on Blue Note, the Red Headed Stranger will perform at 7 p.m. at Hawaii bar Charley's. The only way to catch the show, aside from actually being in Maui (you lucky so-and-so) is to friend MySpace's Secret Shows profile.

MySpace has organized its fair share of worthwhile secret shows (The Cure, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gnarls Barkley), but few have had such promising possibility as hearing an outlaw cowboy paired with one of today's best Southern rock acts.

Slick, Willie.
