Sept. 11-13
Monticello, N.Y.

Highlights: The Flaming Lips, Animal Collective, the Melvins, Atlas Sound, The Jesus
Lizard, Akron/Family, EL-P, Suicide, Panda Bear, The Feelies

The Flaming Lips are curating this year’s ATP, so you know it’s gonna bring the weirdness, as well as plenty of the band’s ’80s-underground pals, like the Melvins and the long-hibernating Jesus Lizard. Interesting, too, is the revival of synth-pop pioneers Suicide and post-punk jangle-folkers The Feelies, who’ve emerged after two decades off the radar and will perform their debut albums in their entirety at ATP. Add to that a comedy stage hosted by David Cross, and a film program hosted by prestigious DVD manufacturer the Criterion Collection and you’ve got one hell of a festival.
