Are you in search of a way to build up your hipster cred? Are you too broke to afford any kind of musical festival tickets because you spent a fourth of your paycheck on the latest Ray-Ban Wayfarer Squares
, or that pair of nylon tricot high-waist leggings in light copper
? (After all, there is always a time and place to channel our inner Kevin Barnes. Always.)
Then cast your votes for the best up-and-coming band through Austin City Limits' annual Sound and the Jury contest.
More than 100 groups have competed for just one performing slot at this
year's music festival, Oct. 2-4, sharing the Dell Stage with the likes
of The Decemberists, Bon Iver, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sonic Youth. Yes,
this is another chance for you to claim that you heard the next big
bands will compete in the contest's final battle of the bands, which
kicks off Sept. 30 and where Paste's Tim Basham will serve as a judge.
