Colin Meloy Fan to Ghostwrite The Decemberists Frontman's Twit Today

With recent 140-character proclamations like, “Thank God! We'll finally have a Pitchfork rating assigned to every Beatles record!,” it turns out that Colin Meloy is still a musician worth following on Twitter.

Yet Meloy offers one more reason to stay tuned. Today, he's given one lucky fan the opportunity to tweet as the Decemberists frontman himself, and to address whatever he or she desires.

“Ghostwrite My Twit,” as the contest is aptly named, is not the first time Meloy has called for fan participation, though he is certainly offering more creative leeway than he has in the past. For his second songwriting challenge, he asked fans to pen a song based off of excessively modern furniture, with the exact chord progression of Jimmy Webb's “Wichita Lineman.”

Follow @colinmeloy to find out whether today's “Meloy” initiates as much infanticide as the real deal, or if he simply submits his 913,000+ followers to shameless self-promotion.
