Whether in Pedro the Lion or not, David Bazan has made a name for himself by telling original stories through song. He takes a break for the holidays, though he doesn't relax like most. Namely, he interprets yuletide tunes and releases them on vinyl.
This year will be no exception, though Bazan's choice of tales are a
bit more modern: "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon and Yoko
Ono, and "Say It Isn't Greensleeves" by Flaming Lips frontman Wayne
Coyne. To further play up the holiday spirit, Bazan plans to release
1,000 copies in rather festive colors: clear, gold and blue ("with white
haze").
The 7-inch will drop Nov. 3 on Suicide Squeeze.
