Flaming Lips Visit Stephen Colbert Tonight, Stream New Album on His Website

Although it may prove difficult to walk over a live television audience in a giant inflatable ball, the Flaming Lips will stop by Comedy Central's The Colbert Report tonight.

The appearance is just the beginning of a season that'll be full of the Lips, as the band's much anticipated double album, Embryonic, is set to drop Oct. 13. But you, lucky fan, won't even have to wait that long! Following the band's performance tonight, Colbert's website will stream the record in its entirety until next Monday.

Stephen Colbert: truly a man of the people. After his public who's-more-literate-now? guitar shredding duel with The Decemberists, we can only wonder what he'll throw at the Lips. Our guess? A debate with head Lip Wayne Coyne concerning his relocation to Earth from his home planet of Mars and the very real threat of illegal immigration. Or, something.

The Oklahoma rockers will next visit The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien on the night of Embryonic's release. It's all exciting, sure, but it'd be hard to beat a Flaming Lips collaboration with The Roots on Jimmy Fallon. Hint hint.
