Aiming to make re-runs more interesting, Fox is bringing them into the 21st century. The network's website will feature tweets alongside online re-runs of their hit Fringe and brand new, buzzed-about show Glee.
Bringing Twitter to primetime, Fox.com will re-air last season's penultimate episode of Fringe at 9 p.m. this Thursday (Sept. 3). The pilot of Glee will re-run Friday (Sept. 4) night at the same time.
Tweeting during the broadcast of Fringe will be executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman, along with stars Joshua Jackson and John Noble. During Glee, a crowd of cast members will be chirping: Lea Michele, Kevin McHale, Mark Salling, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley and Chris Colfer.
According to Fox, each show's representative tweeter will be there to answer fan questions, supply behind-the-scenes info, and discuss upcoming seasons.
Like a new and improved DVD commentary, fans can sign up at Fox.com to follow these tweets, ask questions in real time and reply to cast members' comments. In a crowded premiere season, Fox's strategy may actually help it stand out from the pack.
