In honor of the 40th anniversary of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," yet another variation of the song has emerged. This time, it is an app that allows you to remix the classic on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
iKlax Music's app gives you access to all of Bowie's original stem tracks, including two vocal tracks, acoustic guitar, strings, organ, electric guitar, drums and bass. You can use the sliding buttons to manipulate the volume mix of each track. There are a few remixes built in, and you can shake the handheld to get a random mix.
Unfortunately, you can't add new instruments or elements, but only work with the tracks of the original Bowie song. You also cannot e-mail your creation to anyone or upload it to iTunes. Still, the opportunity to work with the glammy sounds of this Bowie classic should be entertainment enough for most.
Now, if only Major Tom could have used an iPhone to call Ground Control.
