Jack White is a lot like Wikipedia. He's generally considered an authority figure, though some would dispute him, and he is increasingly everywhere. Well, White's spread into every facet of the music world continues; he's been nominated, with his ragtag gang The Raconteurs, for a Country Music Award. The show will air Nov. 11.
Could a Tony be next? A Nobel Peace Prize? A Purple Heart? All in good time, grasshopper. All in good time.
This year's CMA nominations, released just this morning, include the familiar cast of characters we've come to expect from such an establishment. You could probably recite most of them even if you don't follow country music. Together, now: Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift...
But certainly Darius Rucker, he of Hootie and the Blowfish fame, will receive a significant boost from his Male Vocalist of the Year nod. Who would've thought that the "Hold My Hand" dude would rise from the ashes of the '90s to become a successful country singer?
But the surprise of the CMA's is undoubtedly the inclusion of White, who is nominated for Music Event of the Year. That's right, Music Event. When White appears on a track—as he and the Raconteurs did for their nominated "Old Enough" with Ricky Scaggs and Ashley Monroe—it's an event, mind you, not a song.
So watch out, BET Awards; a Jack White collaboration with Timbaland can't be that far off.

The real question is what did Jack White have to do with Brian Jones' death and the almost-breakup of the Rolling Stones? http://thebrowntweedsociety.com/2009/09/09/investigative-presumption-rolling-stones/
I would've been pissed if Jack White had been looked over. The song is epic. If they don't win, I may have to hurt someone.
I do have to correct you though. It's "Ashley" Monroe, not "Austin".
Thanks for the catch, Dizzy GIrl! Fixed now. Perhaps Justin was just trying to work my name into the news...
