The story of a Pavement reunion has developed further as Pitchfork this morning set an exact date: Sept. 21, 2010.
BrooklynVegan first broke the news yesterday while also announcing a set location, New York's Central Park SummerStage. "That could be part of a tour. That could be
the end of a tour, the middle of a tour, or even the beginning of a
tour," the post read. Both websites cite anonymous sources.
Despite the ongoing solo careers of Stephen Malkmus and Scott Kansberg, plus the June reissue of Brighten Your Corners,
rumors of the band's reformation have circulated among fans and
journalists since Pavement's hiatus began in 1999. Many of those
pointed to an appearance at Coachella, in the same fashion that the
band last played.
