Spike Jonze, Dave Eggers and John Hodgman Join Forces to Benefit Kids with Special, Early Where the Wild Things Are Screening

Two days before U.S. audiences can see the much-anticipated movie adaptation of Maurice Sendak's children's classic Where the Wild Things Are, its filmmakers will hold a special screening to benefit young people.

The all-star event will include a Q&A session with director Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich and numerous music videos by Weezer, R.E.M. and Tenacious D) and screenwriter Dave Eggers (the memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and the screenplay for Away We Go). Not to mention the whole thing will be moderated by John Hodgman, Daily Show correspondent and the PC half of the PC-Mac commercials.

If the illustrious lineup for the event weren't reason enough to go, the ticket proceeds will benefit 826NYC, an organization founded by Eggers that is dedicated to encouraging kids ages 6-18 to be better and more expressive writers through classes, workshops, tutoring and other events.

Tickets to the preview and Q&A are $75 general admission, and $150 for V.I.P. priority seating and a cocktail reception with Jonze and Eggers at the bar Whiskey Park. The main event will take place at The Paris Theatre in New York at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14.
