The Flaming Lips will be in Portland, Ore. tomorrow shooting their music video for "Watching the Planets," off their upcoming record Embryonic. They're looking for extras, specifically of the, you know, nude cycling variety.
The shooting will require a deluge of naked cyclists to ride around Mt. Tabor, an inspiration lead singer Wayne Coyne received from the end scene of the musical Hair. "I'm having one of my giant space bubbles covered in fake fox fur," Coyne told BikePortland.org. "It's going to look like some giant fur egg, and the people on bicycles are gonna sort of be born and erupt out of this fur, vaginalistic thing." Understandably, Coyne is still unsure how the video will end.
Space vaginas aside, Portland's nude cycling events are actually kind of par for the course for good old PDX. Their latest occurred this past June as one of many cities participating in the World Naked Bike Ride.
The video shoot lasts from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and is open for anyone to drop in as long as they'd like. The crew requests people to arrive with an ID, bikes, and yes, please, clothes. For more information, contact bikeforthelips@gmail.com.
