Unless you have a truly crippling fear of witches, you've most likely seen The Wizard of Oz. But not like this. On Sept. 23, the flick's 70th anniversary will be celebrated in theaters across the country with a one-night-only screening in—you guessed it—high-definition picture.
Now how the folks at NCM Fathom, Warner Home Video and Turner Classic Movies, all of which are presenting the event, were able to take the 1939 flick and make it pop off the screen is a mystery to us, but no matter—seeing the Emerald City in hi-def will be quite the sight.
The screenings, taking place at 449 theaters across the country, will feature To Oz! The Making of a Classic, a documentary look at how Oz moved from the pages of L. Frank Baum's novel to the screen.
Check out the event's website for more details. And bring your little dog, too.
