Woody Allen May Cast Carla Bruni in Upcoming Film

Carla Bruni may work with the iconic director Woody Allen very soon. Although Allen's current co-producer, Mediapro, is offering no official comment on the rumor, Allen had expressed a desire to work with Mrs. Nicolas Sarkozy in an interview with a French radio station when he visited Paris in June, gushing, "I'm sure she would be wonderful."

Bruni has done a little film work in the past. She briefly appeared in Prêt-à-PorterRobert Altman's 1994 send-up of the fashion world, as well as the 1998 French film Paparazzi. So far her roles have always been "as herself,"  though it would be interesting to see if she had the chops to tackle a fictional acting role in an upcoming Allen film.

Bruni is not only the first lady but was formerly a successful runway model who had a contract with Guess? jeans. Now, she is a singer and songwriter. The soundtrack of (500) Days of Summer features a song she wrote and performed entitled "Quelqu'un M'a Dit" (which translates as "Someone Said to Me").

The Spanish daily El Mundo recently reported that Bruni is now slated to appear in an Allen film in 2010, although Bruni's people deny that anything is official as of yet. Rumors swirl, but it is still unclear if we will see a match-up of the first lady and the neurotic New Yorker.
