Wye Oak Pulls Up Roots for Fall Tour

September 25, 2009  |  7:30am
Baltimore-based duo Wye Oak have done plenty of tweaking to their live set-up while recording their latest album, The Knot, and they're now currently showcasing those efforts on a fall tour.

The Paste Band of the Week alum tends to surprise its listeners with inventive musical effects, intermingling "sonic explosions" with guitarist/singer Jenn Wasner's vocals, all kept to the time of Andy Stack's scalpel-precise percussion.

Wye Oak was seeded from desperate times when Stack and Wasner's prior involvement with bands led to them being simultaneously out of work. Initially, the arrangement was to be temporary, but as the duet's sound matured in healthy proportions, it proved only big enough for the both of them.
