Roger Daltrey and Eddie Vedder Duet in Seattle as Who Frontman Tours U.S.

Roger Daltrey, he of once-flowing blond locks and still-soaring voice, was joined onstage by Eddie Vedder, he of once-flannel attire and still-gruff croon, in Seattle Monday night.

Daltrey is currently on the road for his Use It or Lose It Tour playing cuts from The Who's giant cache of classics, including the tunes of Pete Townshend and John Entwistle. On Oct. 12, the second night of the tour, Daltrey was joined onstage—in a surprise arrival—by Vedder to sing a few jams: Pearl Jam's "A Better Man," and The Who's "The Real Me" and "Bargain."

Daltrey's solo venture's got quite the pragmatic motive, too; The Who's howler just wants to keep his voice fresh for upcoming jaunts with his legendary band. Said Daltrey in a statement: "I said to Pete, 'I've gotta get off my ass and sing, otherwise it's not gonna be there if we wanna work next year.' I ran it past him and he said, 'No, I don't want to be working in that period—go ahead.' But I do realize just in these last two weeks in rehearsal, it's a bloody good job I did this. 'Cause it would've been four times as hard next year."
