Over the years, David Schwimmer has tried his hand at directing theater, TV and comedic films. Now he changes gears again, leaping into the director’s chair for a dark, dramatic thriller called Trust.
The drama will star Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of a 14-year-old daughter (Liana Liberato) who falls prey to an online predator, and it chronicles the emotional aftermath of this on the family. Schwimmer wrote the story, Andy Bellin (newcoming screenwriter and author of the bestselling Poker Nation) is writing the script.
Schwimmer is a founding ensemble member of the Lookingglass Theatre company in Chicago, and has directed TV episodes of Friends, Joey, and Little Britain USA on HBO. His feature-film directorial debut came with Run, Fat Boy, Run, in 2007, written by Michael Ian Black and then re-written by Simon Pegg. Earning mostly lackluster reviews, the film starred Pegg, British comedian Dylan Moran and Thandie Newton.
Schwimmer’s first foray into dramatic film will be produced by Millennium Films (responsible for action movies like the 2008 remake of Rambo). It has no release date as of yet but is set to begin shooting on Nov. 9 in Michigan.
