Download Ryan Adams and Mary-Louise Parker's New York Public Library Chat

A couple Fridays ago, the New York Public Library created an unlikely pair out of Ryan Adams and Mary-Louise Parker as they both signed on to host a discussion. For those who missed it, this literary chat is now available for download through the public library website.

"You may wonder, why the ampersand between these names? I was wondering myself," muses the host. "The answer is quite simply a passion. A passion for poetry."  But the two former neighbors of three-plus years are also both known for delving outside of their primary crafts.

Take Weeds star Parker, whose teenage years spent at home reading helped prepare her for her side job as an Esquire contributor, most eloquently in an ode to men. Hello Sunshine author Adams lends his words to a video game column, though this, with the Pax-Am revival and painting exhibit, has become just one of his many artistic endeavors in recent months. Adams' logic, which Parker agrees with, is, "You gotta love the idea of art so fuckin' hard that you're willing to walk up to the wall and scrap your knuckles across it and take an egg to the face."
