Jeff Tweedy Comments on His Internet Commenters

Like any other rock band making music today, Wilco has to deal with some haters on the internet. But not many of those bands get the chance to address the feedback. When Jeff Tweedy and Co. stopped by their hometown of Chicago for a two-night stand, The Onion’s A.V. Club decided to give Tweedy a forum. His tone in the interview, published late last week, is not as defensive as one might expect, either.

“People really think narrowly when it comes [to]…the idea that something has to be aggressive or avant [garde], or atonal, even, to be a challenge,” he told The A.V. Club. “I’ve found it to be the exact opposite. We literally put 15 minutes of noise on a record that did not raise an eyebrow, but if you make a pop song with Feist on it, people are going to cry like the sky’s falling.”

For the rest of Tweedy’s responses to topics such as his hair and Wilco’s alleged pretentiousness, read the full interview.
