Whimsical hospital comedy Scrubs is enduring a daring makeover without Zach Braff for its ninth season, which debuts Thursday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC, Variety reports.
The now Braff-less series will shift settings from Sacred Heart Hospital to a medical school, where originals Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) and Turk (Donald Faison) will lead the incoming pool of newbies as professors.
Braff and co-star Sarah Chalke are expected for some guest appearances throughout Season Nine, but McGinley and Faison will remain the only veterans returning to the series full time.
ABC will ring in the Scrubs 2.0 premier as a double feature, airing a second original episode afterward.
