When Paste caught Warpaint at this year’s CMJ, we were impressed by the band’s unique blend of psychedelia, jagged rhythms and gurgling vocals.
Just a few days later, Rough Trade Records shows that it was equally as impressed by signing the Los Angeles quartet under its wing. “We are all very excited about being involved with such a unique and inspiring group,” the label said yesterday in a statement.
Warpaint consists of Emily Kokal (guitar), Theresa Wayman (guitar, keyboard) and Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass), who all sing to the beat of a nameless drummer. As they continue to tour select cities, Rough Trade Records will oversee the band’s first full-length album, which is set for a 2010 release.
