Watch Kanye West and Spike Jonze's Short Film, We Were Once A Fairytale, While You Still Can

Island/Def Jam has taken hold of We Were Once A Fairytale, Spike Jonze’s short film starring its own Kanye West after an online leak via fan blog sprung over the weekend.

As KanyeLive.com reported Sunday, Dtrain.tv was the first website to stream the film before it took it down earlier today. For unknown reasons, not even West himself could keep the video up, as he states on his blog.

But even as leaks closed up, discussion continues to flow. With West starring as a drunk, belligerent version of himself, viewers could not help but to draw comparisons to his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards, despite a festival debut in June and an iTunes release in September. Its title is a reference to “See You In My Nightmares,” an 808s & Heartbreak track given a role nearly as prominent as West’s.

“Do you guys like this song?” West yells as it plays in at a nightclub. “It’s my song! I made all the notes!”

West’s discoveries only gets stranger as he wanders from the dance floor to the bathroom, where he finds a willing hook-up (or so he thinks), a bowie knife, and, as some have concluded, his inner demon.
