Berenstain Bears Movie on the Way

In Jan and Stan Berenstain’s beloved children-book series, The Berenstain Bears led simple lives. They learned not to be afraid of the dark, eat too much junk food and talk to strangers. But now, years after its PBS television adaptation, their biggest adventure may be heading to the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Walden Media has teamed up with Shawn Levy, (Date Night, Night at the Museum) to bring Father Bear, Mother Bear, Brother Bear and Sister Bear to film, via live action and CG characters. With that said, even though Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, the company that oversaw the PBS series, will also be producing, Bear County will probably not look as readers remember.

More than 250 titles have been published since the authors Berenstain created the series in 1962.
