Back in September, Paste drew up the ideal plan for Them Crooked Vultures to take over the world in the most classically rock ‘n’ roll fashion possible: play some live shows, avoid the press and let the good word spread naturally.
Vultures’ power trio basically followed our advice, too. For awhile, that is. (Oh, hello, magazine cover.) Leaked song snippets and live YouTube clips were all we knew of these birds for their first months of existence. So for that mystique, Grohl, Jones and Homme, we thank you.
Today, though, you can hear the entirety of Them Crooked Vultures upcoming debut album; all 13 tracks were posted online this morning. While experiencing the band’s scuzzy blues-rock can’t be ideal through computer speakers, it’s hard to deny how punishing these tunes are. Right off the bat, the perfectly titled “No One Loves Me and Neither Do I” is like a bully on the rock’n’roll playground hogging all the riffs to himself.
