Bubbly “pic-a-nic” basket thief Yogi Bear is set to have his own live action/CG animated film in the near future, and casting is already underway.
Dan Aykroyd is currently in negotiations to voice the “smarter than the average bear,” while Justin Timberlake could be the voice behind his bow-tied sidekick Boo Boo, Variety reports. The role for the documentary filmmaker that visits Jellystone Park in the film could go to Anna Faris, who’s lent her vocal talents to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and the upcoming Christmas release of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Producing the adaptation are Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt. The script was originally penned by Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, and afterward put into the hands of Arrested Development writer Brad Copeland. Eric Brevig of Journey to the Center of the Earth is set to helm the project.
Yogi Bear, a Hanna-Barbera creation, debuted on television in 1958 as a supporting character on The Huckleberry Hound Show, only to garner enough attention for his own show in 1961.
