Former Paste Band of the Week Los Campesinos! plan to introduce a new sound, singer and subject matter with next year’s release of their third studio album.
In Romance is Boring, the band of twee-punkers say they have added brass and drum machines to their characteristically frenetic melodies. The album also covers “the death and decay of the human body, lost love, mental breakdown and football,” along with the usual topics of regret, suicide and sexual frustration.
Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart, Parenthetical Girls’ Zac Pennington and The Dead Science’s Jherek Bischoff all contribute to the new album, as well a new member. Vocalist and keyboardist Kim Campesinos! joined the band in September, after Aleks Campesinos! left to attend medical school in June.
Romance is Boring is out Jan. 26 through Arts & Crafts.
