New Dead Weather Album Coming in 2010

Jack White supergroup the Dead Weather is already planning a 2010 sophomore record release, even though their debut, Horehound, has been out for less than a year.

“We can’t tell you that much about it except that it’s gonna be really expansive, and I use that word loosely in a scientific sense, meaning that I’m just using it to distract you,” White hilariously told Rolling Stone.

Despite his attempts at confusion, White did give away that the band will hit the studio soon to start recording, and probably finish before their March Australian tour starts. “We’ll probably be having a new album by that time, if we’re lucky. We have a lot of songs cooking right now," he said. “We’ve been playing a few of them live and I’m sure by March the entire 20 or 25 songs will be onstage by then.”

Released in July, Horehound derives its gritty rock ‘n’ roll sound from White, The Raconteurs’ Jack Lawrence, Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita and The Kills’ Alison Mosshart. Most recently, MTVu nominated the band’s “Treat Me Like Your Mother” video for a Woodie, and around these parts, Paste deemed the band’s “I Cut Like a Buffalo” video one of the best of the decade.
