Yeasayer Releases Single From New Album

With its first single “2080,” Yeasayer only hinted a bit at intergalactic tendencies. However, with synth whispers and delicate electric-guitar arpeggios, the band’s starry-eyed introduction is immediately grounded by a rather realistic sentiment: “We can pickle the pain into blue ribbon winners at county contests.”

However, the Brooklyn band’s spacey new single, “Ambling Alp,” available now for download, reveals no such restraint. Pure optimism gurgles and ripples through its ‘80s New Wave turn, breaks down with the help of chipmunk falsettos, and bursts beyond the alps with an infectious chorus: "Stick up for yourself son / Never mind what anybody else’s done." We hope that, just as “2080” set the overall tribal feel of All Rise Cymbals, that “Ambling Alp” serves as a launchpad for new heights.
