For its upcoming 40th season, Sesame Street will prove that kids grow up much faster than their TV shows do. To celebrate four decades of fun and learning via Jim Henson’s puppets, the children’s show that has seen generations come and go will receive a slight fine-tuning this season.
The first touch-up we’ll see to the series is a modified theme song. After this, the show has been organized into a compilation of modules, what Executive Producer Carol-Lynn Parente describes as a “magazine format,” for bite-sized entertainment and letter-learning. In addition to these, some puppets will be traded out for CGI cartoons, like the student fairy Abby Cadabby.
What’s most impressive about Sesame Street’s Season 40, beginning Nov. 10, is its lineup of special guests. The show will play host to myriad celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Adam Sandler, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kobe Bryant, Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate, Greg Kinnear and Ricky Gervais.
