Michael Jackson’s This is It will eventually air on MTV and sister networks, where many people probably planned to see it anyway.
At just more than $70 million in North American revenue, This Is It is now the top-earning domestic concert title of all time, but that is a pretty low bar—only one other concert film has ever even crossed the $50 million mark in the U.S. And certainly few get the expensive, super-saturated marketing push this film did from Sony, which spent $60 million on the rights to the footage alone. As has become familiar these days, Sony has had to rely on international markets to break even (at $170 million and counting, the movie is a bona fide hit overseas).
That said, unexpectedly strong reviews have fueled Oscar talk for the movie, with some suggesting a best-picture nom is possible.

3D Michael Jackson Concert Film Coming in…
Michael Jackson Possibly Embroiled in Another Legal…
MJ's death would trigger a lot of nostalgia and curiosity to see what his last concert would look like.
It is a nice film, and it looks like it was going to be an amazing show.
But as far as film making goes, documentary narrative, and quality... It does not deserve to be considered for the Oscars.
It is a tribute to Jackson, he was an outstanding artist.
But if he was still alive, this would be quite a shitty TV Show about his rehersals.
Corporations took the oportunity to make money out of tragedy (as they always have and always will) but that doesn't make it an outstanding film.
Don't take me wrong, I am a big fan of Michael Jackson.
