Knoxville, Tenn.’s Big Ears Festival should be much bigger than its inaugural event last year, continuing to highlight the best in music, visual art and film with a weekend of concerts, exhibitions, screenings, lectures and workshops. The event, which will go down March 26-28, has expanded to host over 30 artists and bands that are expected to perform about 50 concerts in eight different venues.
Tickets went on sale late last week via the festival’s website, BigEarsFestival.com.
Among the acts on this year’s slate are Vampire Weekend, Joanna Newsom, St. Vincent, The Calder Quartet and Andrew W.K, The xx, My Brightest Diamond, jj and many more. Composer Terry Riley will be the artist in residence while The National guitarist Bryce Dessner is set to curate. Riley, celebrating his 75th birthday in 2010, will have many of his compositions performed over the weekend.
