Jeff Tweedy, Mountain Goats, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Set to Play Steve Albini's Christmas Charity Drive

Nothing says “24 Hour Charity Marathon!” quite like a 6 a.m. performance from Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy. And that’s exactly what attendees of Steve Albini’s 8th Annual event The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa will get for the pittance of $15 admission.

Although the event hit a bit of a roadblock, the show must go on. The charity fundraiser commences at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and wraps up exactly one day later, features non-stop improvisational comedy from Chicago’s legendary crew Second City for games, scenes, monologues and whatever else they can pull out of their sleep-deprived brains. The day also features a full line-up of Pase-approved performances from the likes of Jeff Tweedy, The Mountain Goats, The Blisters and the aforementioned ‘Prince.’

Second City is hosting Letters to Santa in its Chicago headquarters, 1608 N. Wells St, 2nd Floor of Piper’s Alley. Proceeds from the marathon pay for Christmas gifts and grocery-store gift certificates given out to less-fortunate families around the city, meaning you can party with some of the most musically-inclined and laugh-inducing folks around while helping kids have a merrier holiday season. And to top it all off, the winner of the special auction gets a private performance from Tweedy.
