When he severed ties with Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin also separated himself from Corgan’s penchant for bombastic names (e.g. Smashing Pumpkins, Zwan, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope). His latest efforts prove this, as they fall under a band that’s actually called This.
This is a collaboration between Chamberlin and Mike Reina, frontman of Fairfax, Va.’s The Jackfields, one that is progressing rather quickly. After writing 12-15 songs of self-described “progressive, symphonic pop” by the end of October, the band hopes to hit the studio by the end of January, as Chamberlin said in a recent drumming clinic.
But while Chamberlin doled out that information for free, he plans to not be so forthcoming with other details. “I haven’t done a website at all, because I hate talking about music and I hate blogging and I’m just not into talking about how great something’s going to be when it comes out because it’s just so much work,” he told college radio station WPGU.
