Of Montreal's Kevin Barnes Working on Song for Beyonce

First came Beyonce’s (probably) off-the-cuff quote from a Guardian interview about wanting to work with Of Montreal. Then came Of Montreal frontman Kevin Barnes’ response to Paste: He’d be fully psyched to collaborate with her. Which, in turn, got us and certain parts of the internet psyched as well.

Now it looks like the would-be-wonderful pair is inching closer to realization. Just a few hours ago, Barnes tweeted that he “Started work on a song 4 B.” The only missing ingredient? Beyonce. Barnes continued, “Not that she’s contacted me.just in case.” Dude’s prepared like a boy scout.

Further details? “it’s called ’He’sMyPartyDrug’. sounds like The Time meets Four Tet.”

So we can expect an electronic, Prince-influenced funk tune with (we can only hope at this point) Lady B’s enigmatic voice on top. Beyonce, the time to act is now. Pick up your video phone and make this happen.
