A trailer for Ridley’s Scott Robin Hood reboot has hit the web, and it looks to be the most untamed, face-smashing adaptation yet. Avoiding the pretty-boy ways of Kevin Costner and his Prince of Thieves, Scott’s version seems to focus on how the archer became equal parts outlaw and hero.
Russell Crowe will bring his bloodied Gladiator complexion to the role, this time wielding a bow amongst swords and various other projectiles, while Cate Blanchett will play a rather elegant Maid Marian. The movie looks about as intense as its crunchy guitar soundtrack, which makes Robin Hood’s troupe of Merry Men seem less merry and more manly as he leads them to overthrow the tyrannous Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Matthew MacFadyen. The story picks up after Sir Robin’s service in the Third Crusade, upon his return home to the North English village.

Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio to Produce…
Yeah sure it does look good, but while it may be "From Ridley Scott, Director of 'Gladiator' ", that also means it's from Ridley Scott, more recently director of such disappointments as "Body of Lies", "American Gangster" and "A Good Year". Plus Russell Crowe has had a surprisingly solid decade, with "Gladiator", "A Beautiful Mind", "Master and Commander", "Cinderella Man", "3:10 to Yuma" and this year's underrated "State of Play." But with the exception of the aforementioned "Gladiator", all of his worst films have been with Scott. Hopefully, this will be the film that changes that.
