As the frontman of prog-metal band Tool and its more-alternative cousin A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan may not seem like the most approachable man in the music industry. But the trailer for a documentary (which premieres Feb. 19) about his latest side project, wine, takes a rather lighthearted approach.
Blood Into Wine, directed by Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke, is a documentary which features Patton Oswalt, Bob Odenkirk (at least in the oddball opening of the trailer), Milla Jovovich and the titular pair behind Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, cracking open Keenan’s seemingly tough exterior, not to mention a few bottles of his own wine.
As reported last year, Keenan began studying wine in 1999, then opened Caduceus Cellars winery and Merkin Vineyards in northern Arizona. As the trailer shows, Keenan takes his wine-making venture quite seriously, despite naming his vineyard after pubic wigs.
