ABBAWORLD Theme Park Opens in London, Heads to City Near You?

ABBAWORLD Theme Park Opens in London, Heads to City Near You?

Take a chance on this, all you dancing queens, super troupers and chiquititas of the world: Now there’s a whole new way to immerse yourselves in the magic of your favorite Swedish pop quartet. The ABBAWORLD (all caps, natch) theme park opened today in London.

All four of ABBA’s former members support the project, which features a history of the band spread throughout 25 rooms, complete with costumes, album-cover props and a recreation of their studio. Park organizers promise visitors “a place for total interaction” with ABBA.

And why not ABBA? After all, they’ve sold more than 400 million albums and provided the soundtrack to a ridiculously successful musical-turned-movie. Plus, they’ll be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this March.

Although labeled a theme park, ABBAWORLD could probably be more accurately dubbed a museum—and a portable one at that. After its London run (expected to last through March), ABBAWORLD plans to pick up and hit the road, touring around Europe. They also hope to recreate versions in both Australia and New York by the end of 2010.
