The time has come to bid farewell to Mode magazine and all its idiosyncratic staff members we’ve grown to know and love throughout four seasons of ABC’s Ugly Betty. The network announced that this season will be the show’s last, but it will continue through April so writers will have time to tie up the many loose ends. “We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell,” ABC chief Steve McPherson said in a statement.
The cancellation doesn’t come as a complete surprise. After all, Ugly Betty has been struggling to find an ideal time slot for a while now. Last fall it aired on Friday night—which proved unsuccessful—and has since shifted to Wednesdays, where it has continued to perform poorly.
According to ABC, the show that brought America Ferrera to stardom will conclude mid-April with its 20th episode.
