This year’s Film Independent Spirit Awards promises to be full of creativity, inspiration and laughter. Film Independent announced recently that brilliant quirky British comedian Eddie Izzard will be delivering loads of the latter as Master of Ceremonies for the Spirit Awards on March 5.

Izzard isn’t a stranger to the silver screen, having made appearances in myriad films such as Valkyrie, Ocean’s Thirteen and Across the Universe. The Spirit Awards, who pride themselves on recognizing innovation and freshness within the film industry, found Izzard’s individuality a perfect fit for the show. “The Spirit Awards are known for celebrating filmmakers who can challenge audiences with their original storytelling and art, and the same applies to Eddie,” Film Independent executive director Dawn Hudson said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have such a talented and daring performer host the 25th anniversary for us. There’s a wealth of memorable moments from past shows and independent film history to draw from, so audiences are in for a treat!”

Here’s just a taste of what’s in store for the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards, which will be broadcast live on IFC on Fri., March 5, at 11 p.m. EST:
