Erykah Badu fans will have to wait a bit longer than they’d anticipated for the second installment of the singer’s New Amerykah series. Early Wednesday morning, Badu tweeted that New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh won’t be released on Feb. 23 as originally planned, but instead will come out on March 30.
New Amerykah Part Two is the counterpart to 2008’s New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War. While the first album had strong political and social themes, Badu says Part Two is “more emotional and flowy and talks about feelings.”
“This time there wasn’t anything to be concerned with,” the 38-year-old singer said at a New York listening session in December. “This is just about beats and rhymes in a cipher.”
