Avatar‘s not only the second highest grossing movie ever (rivaled only by another of James Cameron’s blockbusters, Titanic); it’s also set a new benchmark for visual effects. Cameron’s 3D opus has changed the movie-making game, and George Lucas is trying to keep up. Seeing Avatar inspired Lucas to take a look at his own cinematic masterpieces—meaning that a 3D Star Wars may be coming to a not so far away galaxy soon.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Lucas said, “We’ve been looking for years and years and years of trying to take Star Wars and put it in 3D. But, [the] technology hasn’t been there. We’ve been struggling with it, but I think [Avatar] will be a new impetus to make that happen.”

Somebody needs to arrest Lucas for sodomy, because if he keeps doing this kind of thing my 8 year old self is definitely going to feel like it got abused.
I'll go see it.
