Mountain Goats, Billy Bragg, Torche, Many More Play Harvest of Hope Fest

January 15, 2010  |  2:30pm

Penny-pinching music lovers without spring break plans, listen up: the Harvest of Hope Fest runs March 12-14, and weekend passes are just $39.50 if you get them before Feb. 11. Not only is Harvest of Hope a chance to see more than 150 artists, including Billy Bragg, Torche, Dr. Dog, Man Man, Freelance Whales and The Mountain Goats, it’s also a way to help others. Festival profits go to The Harvest of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization providing aid to migrant farm workers nationwide.

The festival is in its second year, following a successful 17,000-plus turnout in 2009. Featuring genres across the musical spectrum (indie rock, hip-hop, alt.country, folk and blues), the Harvest of Hope Fest is a multi-stage event held in St. Augustine, Fla.

Festival-goers need not worry about booking a hotel room. The St. John’s County Fairgrounds, a 90-acre pasture, serves as the setting for the three-day event; attendees are invited to camp out on site.

Until Feb. 11, three-day tickets are available for $39.50, and then they’ll increase to $49.50 from Feb. 12-March 11. Buying tickets at the event will cost $60, and single-day tickets as well as VIP passes are also available. For more information on ticket prices (and to get the entire 2010 Harvest of Hope line-up) visit the event’s website.
