Robert Rodriguez’s Machete has gone from a fake trailer to an in-joke action flick to a hot property, as 20th Century Fox swooped in and nabbed the movie away from The Weinstein Company for a reported $9 million.
The expectation was that the flick would stay with the Weinsteins, who have released some of Rodriguez’s most famous work, but many observers pointed out that Fox now has a vested interest in Rodriguez as he works on a Predator reboot. What this means for us is that Machete is now sure to get a full-on genre push when it opens, with a guaranteed wide release.
The movie’s magical cast includes Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal and Tom Savini. It’s currently in post-production.

I'm actively looking forward to this flick. Rodriguez movies tend to be like crazy versions of Carpenter movies from the 80s, which is why I get jazzed so much.
