David Byrne, former Talking Heads frontman and the guy behind one of the best concert films ever, Stop Making Sense, is bringing the genius of his live show to film audiences once again in March. Ride, Rise, Roar is a chronicling of Byrne’s 2008/2009 tour in support of his Everything That Happens Will Happen Today collaboration with Brian Eno. The film will premiere at next month’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
Ride, Rise, Roar features scenes from Byrne’s live show and interviews with the enigmatic artist as well as behind-the-scenes footage from rehearsals for the show, which featured modern dancers and, of course, some outlandish costumes. A trailer can be seen on the film’s website.
Also, in David Byrne news, a track from his upcoming collaboration with Fatboy Slim, Here Lies Love, has surfaced. “Why Don’t You Love Me?” (see below) features Cyndi Lauper and Tori Amos and is the closing track on the second half of the double-LP concept album about former First Lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos. The full tracklist has Byrne and Slim partnering with St. Vincent, Sharon Jones, Santigold and many more.
