Kathryn Bigelow to Direct Pilot for HBO's The Miraculous Year

Kathryn Bigelow to Direct Pilot for HBO's The Miraculous Year

Director Kathryn Bigelow is a busy lady these days, what with preparing for the Oscars and basking in the glow of her recent landmark Directors Guild of America Award. Still, she's managed to squeeze in some time for the small screen: The Hollywood Reporter says that she's directing a pilot for HBO called The Miraculous Year.

The Reporter describes the show as "a light family drama" that focuses on a New York family through the perspective of a Broadway composer—a marked shift from the wartime violence on Bigelow's Oscar-nominated Hurt Locker, to be sure.

The pilot, written by John Logan (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Last Samurai), is slated to start filming in May or June.
