Turns Out, Kid Cudi Was Meant for the Stage

After catching the ear of King Kanye himself, collaborating with Ratatat and earning himself a Grammy nomination, Kid Cudi is kinda-sorta over this whole music thing. He wants to act.

The MC, born Scott Mescudi, has landed a role in the HBO series How to Make It In America. The show, produced by the team behind Entourage (Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Rob Weiss and Julian Farino), follows two young men trying to launch their fashion line in New York. Cudi plays their helpful friend Domingo Dean.

“I’m trying to evenly balance them out right now, but eventually I want to leave behind music and just do acting,” Cudi told Vulture at the NYC screening of the show. “I only got into the music business to tell my story and inspire some people. I think four albums will do it, and when I’m done with my four, five albums, I’ll switch it up. Once the story is told [musically], there’s nothing else to say.”

How to Make It In America premieres on HBO this Sunday. Watch the trailer below:
