Ozomatli is a crew of Los Angeles musicians from who spend their time bringing together musical styles from all over the world. They spent 2009 hopping around southeast Asia on a State Department trip, performing both music and community outreach. Now, they’re back stateside and plotting to spread the love using merengue, ragga and hip-hop.

Ozomatli’s fifth studio album promises to bring their signature cultural mash-up style and socially conscious lyrics with songs like “Gay Vatos in Love.” Fire Away will be released April 20. Until then, the band’s got an appearance at the TED Conference, a couple of gigs at this year’s upcoming South by Southwest, and plenty of multicultural love-spreading on the road in between.
