More than 1,800 bands are now on the schedule for next month’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, and Paste is happy to announce our affiliated shows. You can find us at the Galaxy Room (formerly Bourbon Rocks) March 17 and 18.
Brought to you by Bay Area Tone, To Write Love On Her Arms, Izze, Sierra Nevada, Busted Tees, 5-Hour Energy, UV Vodka and Limelight, each day party will feature 11 acts on two stages. Wednesday headliners include Frightened Rabbit and Roky Erickson, the latter of which will be backed for the third year in a row by Okkervil River. Thursday, Dinosaur Jr.‘s Lou Barlow will play with his Missingmen, and Decemberists Jenny Conlee, Nate Query and Chris Funk will appear with fellow Portland musicians as Black Prairie. Each day we’ll showcase some of the best new music, including our CMJ favorites Freelance Whales, Suckers, Free Energy and Aussie up-and-comers The Middle East. Doors open each day at 11:30 a.m., which, incidentally, is also when the free beer (while supplies last!) starts pouring. There will be free Izze all day both days.
Friday, we’re partying with Vanguard Records and Sugar Hill Records at The Belmont from noon to 6 p.m. Black Prairie will join us again with a special guest. The afternoon will also feature Greg Laswell, Daphne Willis, Sarah Borges and The Broken Singles, Sarah Jarosz, Bobby Bare Jr., The Living Sisters (Inara George, Becky Stark, and Eleni Mandell) and The Watson Twins.

I'm fairly certain you have the address wrong on your poster. It should be 508 E. 6th St.
Who do I have to bow at the feet of/worship to see Roky and Okkervil play? My band is totally inspired by his man, and I'm not ashamed to say I love him. Let me know what I need to do. I'll buy a wristband! I'll sail the seven seas! I'll walk with a zombie! I WILL work in the Kremlin with a two headed dog!
How the Wang wishes he could be there in Austin... Damion Suomi will surely win many admirers. Fine choice. And Basia Bulat is from down the highway from Bart - a wonderful Canuck who will knock the sweat from the Texans' brows. Fanfarlo AND Joe Pug? Both amazing. Gordan Gano? What's that guy ever done. Oh yeah, that... Way to go, Paste!
Check out the SXSW Party Planner in the App Store- it's FREE! Plan your outings at SXSW 2010. You can find fun events, save them to your favorites, get directions to your events, post to your social networks, and see where your friends and the crowds are!
You can also post your own event right from the application. Each person that posts an event will be entered into a drawing to win a free iPad to be given away at the end of SXSW!
First off, I don't really know too much about how SXSW works. That being said, could someone answer if this event is free to get into, or do you need a wristband?
Hey Phil,
These events are free and open to the 21+ public. In the case of one of the parties reaching capacity, people with badges will be given priority. Hope this clears things up for you!
Thanks for reading...
